Ava Burstyn

Hi, I’m Ava. I support children, teens, and adults in navigating anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, relationship patterns, and other emotional challenges. I’m a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern with an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and graduate degrees from Columbia University and Harvard University. My background includes working in both community mental health and private practice settings, where I’ve helped clients process a range of emotional and relational struggles. If you’re feeling anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by past experiences, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work collaboratively to help individuals make sense of their emotions, understand how the past may still shape how they see themselves and others, and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Whether you're struggling with trauma, identity, self-esteem, or life transitions, I offer a warm and reflective space where we can explore your story together. I specialize in psychodynamic therapy, which means I help clients explore how early relationships, life experiences, and unconscious patterns influence the way they think, feel, and relate in the present. Often, challenges like anxiety, self-doubt, or repeated relationship dynamics have deeper roots. While this insight-oriented work is my foundation, I also integrate tools from CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches based on your unique needs and goals. Together, we’ll make space for what’s beneath the surface so you can understand yourself more fully and move through life with greater clarity and self-compassion. This work takes time and trust, and I’m here to offer a grounded, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest, curious, and real.
