
Kirt McClellan
Kirt McClellan, LCSW, is a seasoned psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from New York University. During his graduate training, he provided in-home therapy to homebound LGBTQIA+ seniors across New York City through SAGE, an experience that deepened his lifelong commitment to inclusive, client-centered care. Since obtaining his clinical license in 1998, Kirt has worked in diverse settings including acute psychiatric care, adolescent residential treatment, substance use recovery programs, and private practice. His clinical expertise includes working with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, and complex family systems. He is known for his warm, collaborative, and relational approach that helps clients deepen self-awareness, navigate life transitions, and build emotional resilience. Kirt currently serves as Director of Clinical Services at the University of Miami counseling center, where he oversees clinical operations and continues to provide individual and group psychotherapy. He is deeply committed to creating affirming spaces where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing journey.
