Nicholas Maccarrone

Dr. Nicholas Maccarrone is a Licensed Psychologist and Co-Director at Pediatric Psychology Associates (PPA). He specializes in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders in adolescents and adults. His areas of expertise in working with adolescents include Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, depression, anxiety, and conduct problems. He also works with family issues, such as divorce, parenting, and other related concerns. In his work with adults, Dr. Maccarrone treats a variety of challenges, including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, relationship difficulties, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. In addition, he works with adults who are struggling to cope with their high-stress lives, aiding them in developing coping strategies and shifting their perspectives to improve their functioning, overall sense of happiness, and life satisfaction. Dr. Maccarrone earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Psychology from Florida State University. He obtained his Master of Science and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology degrees from Nova Southeastern University. He completed his predoctoral internship at Florida State University's Student Counseling Center and his post-doctoral residency at a private practice in Central Florida. He is also a graduate of the International OCD Foundation's Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and the Social Thinking® Intensive Clinical Training Program, as well as a certified provider of the PEERS® social skills training program. Dr. Maccarrone is the co-founder and Clinical Director of The Social Cog, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating community among adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other related disabilities. Additionally, he was formerly a faculty member at Barry University. He regularly provides presentations on a variety of topics locally at schools and other organizations, and has also presented at statewide conferences. In January 2017, Dr. Maccarrone was presented the "Outstanding Contribution to Psychology in the Public Interest" award by The Florida Psychological Association. Dr. Maccarrone provides services via telehealth and in-person at PPA's Boca Raton location. He is a PSYPACT-certified provider, allowing him to offer telehealth therapy services to clients in participating states.
